We build space for hobbies to thrive.

gleam-surge is a studio and community built for people who want to explore hobbies with calm guidance, quality materials, and a sense of belonging.

At a glance

  • Founded in 2018 by hobby educators.
  • Studios in Manchester and Leeds.
  • Seasonal programmes and open studio nights.
  • Member-led showcases and community events.

Our story

We started as a small group of hobby instructors who noticed that many people wanted to learn, but did not want to commit to long courses or buy all the tools upfront.

gleam-surge grew into a dedicated studio that brings structure and warmth to hobby learning, with programmes designed for real-life schedules.

Why we exist

Hobbies help people reset, connect, and create. We built a space where that can happen without pressure, judgement, or clutter.

Leadership and studio team

A mix of educators, makers, and community builders who shape each programme.

Rowan L.

Maeve K.

Jordan F.

Workshop Coordinator, managing tools, materials, and studio readiness.

Values we stand by

  • Respectful learning environments that welcome all skill levels.
  • Transparent pricing and no pressure to continue.
  • Tools and materials chosen for longevity.
  • Community-led ideas for future programming.
